Just a reminder that our next meeting is on Saturday 8 May, and is a Survivors Day Support Group. A number of survivors will be chatting about their experience and the tools and techniques they used to make it through this difficult time. They will be available to answer any questions you might have.

As usual, the meeting will be held at 18 Eton Road, Parktown at 9h00 for 9h30.

We need to find :

• 85 breast cancer survivors for an event in Newcastle on the 20th May + 2010 breast cancer supporters (these can be brothers, sisters, aunties, grannies etc.) They will all be given a pink Reebok T-Shirt

• 85 breast cancer survivors for an event in Pietermaritzburg on the 22nd May + 2010 breast cancer supporters (these can be brothers, sisters, aunties, grannies etc.) They will all be given a pink Reebok T-Shirt

• 85 breast cancer survivors for an event in Durban on the 30th May + 2010 breast cancer supporters (these can be brothers, sisters, aunties, grannies etc.) They will all be given a pink Reebok T-Shirt

We are very pleased to announce that our speaker will be Dr Owen Nosworthy a Senior Specialist Physician and Medical Oncologist at the Johannesburg Hospital and University of the Witwatersrand.

Dr Nosworthy obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Pretoria in 1999 completing his internship at the Johannesburg Hospital in 2000. He was awarded a Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa in 2004 and subsequently his sub-specialist certificate in Medical Oncology in 2006.

Dr Nosworthy has been employed at the Johannesburg Hospital for 10 years and has during this time been involved in numerous activities in the Department of Medicine.  Dr Nosworthy enjoys practicing general oncology caring for patients with all cancer types.  He practices privately at the Wits University Donald Gordon Medical Centre.

I am holding another Quantum Healing Retreat for people with cancer as well as for anyone wanting to take charge of their health and their lives.

Please will you pass this information on to people who need to know.  As you know I do not advertise (except to the Cape on Body and Mind website) and do rely on word of mouth from people like you.

The next retreat is on Feb 22nd 2010 from 10 a.m until Friday 26th lunch time.  The cost which includes all the morning sessions of talks and discussions as well as one therapy per afternoon is R3000.00.  It does not cover accommodation or food however.  McGregor is full of wonderful B&B’s and restaurants which serve good wholesome food. I can recommend a B&B to suit any budget.

Our criteria for becoming a buddy are more or less as follow:

* One year post-treatment.

* Emotional well adjusted after the cancer experience.

* Must have good communication skills.

* Willing to make the time and effort to visit newly diagnosed patients.

* Be comfortable to work within that kind of model.

* Be prepared to do individual and telephonic interviews with newly diagnosed patients with a similar diagnosis to yours.

* Willing to attend at least 2-monthly group meetings per year to assist with fundraising and marketing of the organization.
