SOUTH AFRICANS STAND UP FOR CANCER!

People Living With Cancer and their affiliated Cancer Buddy support network is calling on all South Africans to Stand Up For Cancer by signing the declaration below.

The goal is to add 100,000 signatures to the declaration that will then be handed to the South African National Department of Health to scale up awareness of the fight against cancer, which in many countries still takes a back seat to other public health priorities.

  • Injury woes!
Just when I thought I was getting on top of my game, a little surprise injury comes along to derail all my plans. I bought new running shoes last week, and unfortunately took the advice of the shoe sales man who told me to buy a pair larger than the last ones because I was [...] […]
  • 5 Months to go and 1400km’s of roadwork ahead!
Well we are firmly into January, and the training for Comrades has begun in earnest. The training programme I am following (www.alsoranrunners.info) says I need to be doing in the region of 65km’s per week! Thats quite a step up for me as I have been averaging about 40km’s per week up to now. Since I [...] […]
  • Runners World Article
Runnersworld Article January 2010 After chatting to the team at Runners World, I was astounded that they selected me as one of their “heroes” of 2009 for choosing to run the Comrades in 2010 to raise cash for Cancer Buddies! I certainly don’t feel like a hero today after running the Bay to Bay yesterday..but thanks [...] […]
  • Comrades Entry Confirmed!
I checked the Comrades web site yesterday and see that my entry has been confirmed! Now I am really nervous, as there are no excuses for not running. This past week was a tough week from a training perspective. I flew to JHB twice in one week so missed out on 3 days of training [...] […]
  • Landmarks Half Marathon
Last week was a good week. I did 45km of road work, which included the Landmarks Half Marathon. The great thing about doing these half marathons regularly is that you can see the progress in fitness and experience, as a result I really enjoyed the day out on the road. The course was excellent, and I [...] […]
